Dear Churchy Wives:
You are not alone.
Male staff members of churches everywhere, take head! J/K ! …but it sounded like I was about to get on my soapbox, right?

hehehe :)

A few weeks ago Aaron and I loaded up our family of 4 and headed to a Youth Pastor friend of Aaron’s. They have 3 beautiful, active girls. So with 5 little girls in one house, you know the noise level was about to reach maximum capacity. With lots of noise and giggles around the table, we had a fabulous dinner. Aaron and Mike chatting on one end of the table and Christine and myself chatting on the other (while we tended to the lil’ ones in between). Mine and Christine’s conversation revolved around children, church events and being a “churchy wife.” Which we both love dearly, may I be so presumptious. It took me a week or so to finally realize that that night hanging out and having dinner made me feel so connected to God’s work and will in my life. Being a “churchy wife” is what He has had in store for me from the beginning. I’ve been to plenty of random get-2-gethers, work Christmas parties, etc. Lets just say meaningless banter was the topic at these non-church events. I always left each of them feeling a sense of wasted time. But was it wasted time? Did I share how God was working in my life?
That night sparked something in my soul. God is working. Working in my life, working in my husband’s life and working in the lives of Christians everywhere. In an economic struggle, in a world where we just don’t know which way is up-God will show us the light.

So I end with this…
Indulge in the wonderful things He hath provided. In my case, church wife companionship.

Thanks Christine!

I love these pictures and originally it was just a pic post…but now I’m changing it. See, I got to thinkin’ -is it Abigail that needs to grow into my shoes? Maybe it’s me who needs to do the growing…

Prayer: God, walk with me. Show me how to walk with my daughter and teach her how you have taught me. Amen.

You know how your children go through “phases” ? Well the latest one (with Abigail) is not eating her veggies. Cooked, raw, stewed, steamed-no way… she just won’t eat them. So, recently she has learned THE DIP. Yes, she wants to DIP everything. The other day my mommy brain went into overdrive. “How can I get her to eat her veggies” ? And then it hit me! Green beans are easy to hang on to and she can dip them in…ummm….. well…what could she….. I’ve got it! Applesauce! YUP, you guessed it-she ate them! (well half of them anyway) But I was so proud of myself for thinking up such a concoction-I even tried it (BTW-YUCK) ! But she liked it and she ate vegetables! Good Job Moms everywhere for thinking up these crazy, kid-friendly combinations!

What’s your child’s latest “phase” or eating craze?

Scheduling is GOOD! Especially for our lives now-a-days. Two children of our own, not to mention the 30 Youth @ church we love as our own as well. So this past Monday night we had tacos for dinner and then Abigail and I made brownies with peanut butter frosting…Leigh Leigh watched. These are the times we are going to remember. Baking with our babies and eating a family dinner at the table (not in front of the TV). Conversation between you and your spouse or playing horfies on the floor with your little ones is what family night is all about. (Abigail calls horsies, horfies) Thanks for buying FIVE OF THEM Aunt J ! :)
So, slow down this week and make one night a family night. Even if there are just two of you… go to the movies, buy some ice cream and make sundaes or pop some jiffy pop and call it a night!
To the mommies… cherish every moment, as we all know-they are growing too fast!

The other day my husband came to visit me at work. This may sound routine to some, for me it’s a rare occasion because of our busy schedules. So when I get an unannounced visit from my man, it truly makes my day. There I sit, in my 8X10 cubicle, working away and here comes my sweetie. Immediately I think, YEAH-he’s going to get to see me in action (keep in mind I’m on hold for probably the 5th time that day & it’s only 11:00)! I finish up my call and we begin to discuss the events of the day that lay ahead. All the while, I’m so stoked that he’s there to see me and all I can think of is how “cool” I am sitting on my turf, showing my husband I’m more than just a wife and mother to his children. BTW, he’s very considerate of my accomplishments, however, I’m feeling the need to be praised for the “career” hat that I’m wearing at that moment.
By now you’re asking, “where is this whole story going?”
Simple praise.
Sometimes all we need (as women, as mothers, as children of God) is simple praise. So don’t you think we could give a little of that back to God? 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says to pray without ceasing. We can do this. I can do this. Show God that He is worth more to you than just a problem solver.
Show Him simple praise.

Leigh-Leigh, say cheese !

Abigail’s first owie…that required a band-aid. The whole episode was as dramatic as an 18 month old could make it. I know she must have been in “baby” pain, but I couldn’t help but squeak a lil’ smile just thinking that my motherly duty now requires band-aids. I love it! Every single minute! Isn’t she sweet ? Mommies, do you remember your babies’ first band-aid owie?
