When I was growing up, manners were a BIG deal. My parents made sure that I minded my P’s and Q’s. Thank you Mom and Dad for helping me to exude perfect politeness! (then)
So I got to thinking today… remember when you greeted someone and you said “Hello” ? Then as you got to know them better, it became “Hi” …. And now you greet them with a simple/non-feeling “hey.”

What happened!?!

Right now you are stopping to think if you have fallen into this non-mannered trap. And right about now you are thinking-Oh No!…I AM greeting people this way.
Don’t get me wrong-there’s a time and a place for everything. The people we do see often, of course we are going to greet them casually.

So here’s where this all started:
I was on the phone at work the other day and as I’m preparing to leave a message for one of my clients, that I have spoken to maybe once… I almost said “Hey, this is Katie from the bank.” Let’s just say this stopped me in my well mannered tracks!
Then I got to thinking, how is my first impression viewed now that I have become this casual speaking person?
Then I started to feel convicted about my casual attitude; and wondered, I am a casual Christian? Am I casual in my journey for Jesus?

Lord help us to speak & act with love & passion for you.
Help us to show others that we care even in a casual setting. Amen.

Here is our Christmas Eve service from Ocean View Baptist, our church :-)
I hope you enjoy this powerful service!

If you know Levi, the title of this blog is all you need to read! :)
Levi is one of the kids in my husband’s/our church’s Youth Group.

Aaron and I have watched this kid grow into a man of God. So last night the Youth shared their testimonies with our church congregation at our Wednesday Night Prayer Meeting. Every word was important . Stories of lessons learned, prayers needed and our Youth teaching, learning and growing in Christ. Then comes Levi-let me just say-
DUDE BROUGHT THE HOUSE DOWN!
… my baby was preaching! I have tears in my eyes just blogging about it! And you can be sure I had a big goofy grin on my face when he was preaching to the congregation-on a WEDNESDAY night! Those people went away CHURCHED UP! UmmmmHmmmm! Go ‘head now!
He said “don’t think things are gonna come your way if you are sitting here on your butt”…”we need to get out into our community, this is a mission.” O! & by the way… God has called him into missions- near, far or otherwise, Levi is ready to go. He’s ready to lead people to the Living Water. He’s right, this IS a mission. This life, this job, this co-worker, this fellow church-go-er, this friend, THIS!

Find God and find His mission in your life!

So, Aaron and I have this friend… greatest guy you’ll ever meet! At random times in conversations or when a story is being told, he’ll say “well, I know a guy.” I’m sure he’s said it for the longest time, but one day we caught on at how frequent this catch phrase was used. It’s just a little something that makes Aaron and I smile when we hear it.

iPod…
iPhone…
I don’t remember growing up with all this “stuff” that was mine. Possessions that don’t really further us in life, make us who we are or really tell the story of our lives (although they might be called “i” this and “i” that).
I told my story this past weekend. You know, my story… my testimony. The first thing you should share in the witnessing process? Or, so I’m told that’s the first thing you share. I’m not sure I agree. While having dinner with a friend this past Friday night, she said “what’s your story” ? So I began to babble on. It was then that I realized, I knew my story-but never shared it before. So let’s put this in perspective here… I’ve been an active Christian for about 6 years, but the first year & a half I was just going through the motions. You see, I think everyone “knew” I had all the answers to starting my walk with Jesus. I didn’t. When my husband was blessed with a Youth Pastor job @ Ocean View Baptist Church, I was still going through those same motions. What happened? Why did I get, should we say, missed? My answer: IDK ! (txt gargin for I don’t know) In churches today this happens a lot. Why do you think people come and go so quickly? Maybe cuz we didn’t take the time to see where they really were in their life with Christ. What their story was. Current followers of Jesus are so wrapped up in iChurch that they see the new people, involve them and move on to the next person. Is that what He wants? So…my personal opinion here, NO! This includes me, get off your hiney (as Abigail would say) …and make something happen-test the knowledge, challenge your fellow church go-er & lets make the churches of today grow with people full of knowledge & passion about our RISEN KING !

Life is a dance & God’s love is the music!

“Character cannot be developed in peace and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.”
-Helen Keller

it has taken me a long time to determined that you cannot be full of wisdom if you have not experienced life. So, thank you, Helen Keller, for experiencing life to the fullest and being so bold to share of your wisdom.

This month I visited my best friend, Nicole, who lives in FL. We have survived many trying times in our friendship, but in the end, we prevailed and the Lord has blessed us to no end with Godly husbands and wonderful families. Every morning her Daddy calls to wish her good day. They chit-chat about what the day may have in store for them, a quick I Love You and good-bye. She says this call is what gets her day started. That is love in a pure, simple form. There are days I long to hear comforting words of reassurance from my Father…but in this life, my life, the one God has given me… He had another plan in mind for me. My life’s path has lead me to the ultimate Father… God.
I’m talking about getting my fill from Jesus.
It took me too long to find Him and I’m not gonna let Him go. Don’t get me wrong here… I have faced plenty of trying times with God holding my hand. Did I immediately remember that He was there holding my hand, NO! I would venture to say the odds are not in my favor on that tally! (He will remind me of those moments when I meet him at Heaven’s gate)
So, my realization, My Father IS calling. Calling me to serve Him. And O! Yes, this means going outside my comfort zone, giving when there was nothing left to give & keeping quiet when words wanted to flow like water.
Calling me, huh?
Okay then, I suppose it’s time to listen.

Out of difficulties grow miracles.
